Study Series

Recently our small groups have been working through the book of Acts.

This book of the Bible was written by Luke to Theophilus, probably an influential early believer, as an extension to the teaching Luke had provided on Jesus' life in the Gospel of Luke.  It details the work of the Spirit in the early church - establishing it and fulfilling the command of God to reach to "Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth".

The Book, called the "Acts of the Apostles", could more rightly be called the "Acts of the Spirit", since it has much to teach us about how God deals with His people, empowering, emboldening and enabling His church for the task He has given it.  It also teaches us much about church life - the commitment of His people, the gifts He gives to it, the reality of difficulty as the church seeks to shine for Jesus in a dark work, and the triumph of God's sovereign plan for His people.

This is a really challenging book, full of wonderful lessons in times when so many are opposing God's work in this country.

Prior to these studies in Acts we have completed studies in 2 Timothy, Ephesians and a brief excursion into the Beatitudes.
