We hope that this should be a one-stop location where you can get quick answers to common questions that are asked about Street Baptist Church by those who are visitors:
Street Baptist Church is a Christian church in Street, Somerset. Our church is made up of people who all know that they are horribly wrong before God, but that Jesus died for all the wrong they have done. We understand that to follow Jesus is not just a decision, but a work of God in our lives as we seek to follow Him and His word. So, coming to church is not about any ritual to be observed. Rather, this is a place for those looking for answers to their deepest questions and needs as well as for those who want to worship God, grow as Christians and be encouraged in their spiritual walk.
Street is located right in the middle of Somerset, and if you have not heard of Street, you will have heard of our adjoining town: Glastonbury. We provide full directions to the church which includes an interactive map to help you find the way.
There is a carpark to the rear of the church and to the side. On a Sunday morning this is particularly crowded, and so we also have an overflow carpark in our adjoining field. From the carpark, come around the building to the front and you will find the entrance to the church with large wooden doors. You will also find the entrances to the Middle Room and the church Hall at the front of the church.
A staffed crèche is available during the Sunday morning service. This is reached from the Middle Room, on the upper floor. The greeters on the door of the church will be happy to take you to the right place if you are concerned about finding your way.
KidZone, YouthZone and YouthZone 2, start from 11:30, with children and young people going out to these groups from our family time in the church service together when announced. KidZone (school years R-6) and YouthZone (school years 7-9) will leave via a side door to the front of the building we have our meetings in, whilst YouthZone 2 go out of the front door of the church and across to the church Manse. Just join the relevant group as they go out!
Parents are always welcome to come out with their children to these groups, although we will always encourage the parents to leave and rejoin the main service as soon as their child finds the right place to go.
In the evening services children are encouraged to stay in and join with us as we worship God together. For younger children, Bible-based pages of puzzles and questions are provided during the message.
Our Sunday services focus mostly on praise, prayer and coming around God's word to hear from Him. We’ll share some quick announcements, express our hearts to God through music, and hear a message from God’s Word.
The music is contemporary, and the messages are practical. After the evening service we encourage everyone to stay behind for tea/coffee and fellowship so that we can get to know folk better.
Our Sunday morning service starts at 11:00am and is usually over by 12:20am.
Feel free to wear whatever clothes make you feel most comfortable. We care more that you’re here than what you wear.
We normally do give people an opportunity to give during each service, but we stress that this is for those who are regular worshippers with us and for all our visitors to just let the offering bag pass them by. We welcome you as our guests!
Whether you are are a long time resident of Street and it's surrounding area or just visiting Somerset we invite you to join us!
